Youth softball has gone down a road with few rest stops. Seasons seem endless with nationals rolling into tryouts leading into the fall recruiting season and winter training, high school ball, and the jam-packed summer season. How do athletes navigate the relentless schedule and pressure of competitive softball? We turned to an Olympian for advice.
Ally Carda, is currently in her sixth year playing professional softball in Japan and spends six months of the year training and competing there. She recently was named to the U.S. Senior Women’s National Team and will compete with Team USA for a world championship this summer in Italy. Typically, Carda also competes professionally in the United States, most recently with the USSSA Florida Pride. With the Pride canceling their 2024 season, Carda may actually get a rare day or two this summer to take a breath. Maybe.
