Take a minute and think of some Power Five softball programs that always seem to be “around”. Let’s define that as teams that may not be perennial championship favorites, but that always are a part of the conversation for tournament consideration or who regularly rest among their conference’s higher tiers. If we’ve defined it well, one of the first teams that you likely think of is the Ohio State Buckeyes.
Over the last nine years, the Buckeyes have reached the NCAA tournament four times, most recently in 2019. A conference-only slate in 2021 saw the squad finish with a 24-19 overall record, with series wins over Wisconsin, Maryland, Illinois, Penn State, Rutgers, and Michigan State.
Entering the 2022 season, the Buckeyes are a real wild-card team within the Big 10.
