Tell us about your travel team/organization and how you became involved with them?
5 Star Playmakers is Coach Neil (Siofele) and Coach Ed (Mulipola‘s) own organization. I started playing for them in second year 10U’s with the USA Athletics and when we moved over to So Cal Athletics 14U’s. They are my softball family and real family, as Coach neil’s daughter, Irie, is my cousin and Coach Ed’s daughter, Dejah, is my pseudo cousin. They all have been real role models and great teachers. They come from the (former OC Batbusters/Pacifica High coach) Mark Campbell Coaching Tree, so their process is proven and I feel blessed to be in position to help grow and promote this organization.

How did your club team do this past summer and in the fall?
Last summer was a gauntlet. We reached the semi’s of the Colorado Sparklers Junior Power Pool; took 5th place at Triple Crown Nationals; reached the Super Regionals at the Alliance Fastpitch Championship Series; and ran out of gas at the PGF Nationals, coming in 17th. This fall, we played in two tournaments and won one and finished 2nd in the other. We also played in four showcases, including the Ronald McDonald Showcase in Houston where we faced some talented Bombers and Glory teams.

What should we expect from your club team?
Our motto is “We might be small and all, but we can play ball.” Small in stature as well as roster size, but we can play ball. We hope to pick up a few players, but we compete every day in practice and even at conditioning, knowing this will help us as a team. We are one of those scrappy teams you don’t want to face in an elimination game.

What should we expect from your high school team?
We kinda surprised a lot of people last year, starting four freshmen and doing so well. We know we will have a target on our back, but we only lost one starter to graduation, so we feel pretty good. Pacifica has such a high standard and we are all trying to uphold that standard of excellence.

Do you have a secret talent/skill?
I love to bake. I make banana bread for my family and I love to make cookies. I am also a closet Karaoke singer (laughs).

What’s your most memorable softball story?
It has to be April 21st of 2021. You know how I know that date? Because it was my dad’s 50th birthday. He said to me, “The best present you could give to me is a win today.” Well, we were facing and undefeated and #1-ranked Los Alamitos High team that day. We fell behind, 2-0, in the first inning, but kept fighting and we wound up beating them on a walk-off single in the seventh inning, It was a great team win and great present for my dad.
