As part of our in-depth preseason college softball coverage, today we dive into the Big 12 and forecast what could be in store for the league during the 2023 season.
For our remaining Conference Forecasts in 2023, we’ve also added a team-by-team breakdown and analysis of every program in the conference. Check that out in Section XI below.
1. Conference Breakdown
Oklahoma won the Big 12 regular season title a year ago, though Oklahoma State emerged in the conference tournament and took home that crown. Oklahoma, OSU, and Texas were the only three teams from the Big 12 selected for the NCAA tournament – and all three reached the Women’s College World Series.
For the final year, there are seven programs that play softball in the Big 12. The list includes Baylor, Iowa State, Kansas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas, and Texas Tech.
