After being left out of the NCAA tournament field in 2021, the Wisconsin softball program had postseason plans from the start of the 2022 campaign.
Those plans were fulfilled in classic Wisconsin fashion, as the Badgers put together the right wins in non-conference play and a solid showing within the Big 10 to earn an at-large berth to the NCAA tournament. Once there, the Badgers were impressive then too – the squad outlasted rain delays and a hard-hitting Georgia Tech team to reach the Gainesville regional final against Florida.
Even for a program that is used to annual NCAA tournament trips, head coach Yvette Healy – entering her 13th season at the helm in Madison in 2023 – didn’t overlook the importance of her team’s postseason return last year.
