Texas State infielder Claire Ginder is a native of Tampa, Florida. While her home avoided the worst damage and effects of the recent Hurricane Ian, her home state as a whole was not so lucky.
After the hurricane hit, Ginder was over 1,000 miles away, at school in San Marcos. Nevertheless, she wanted to help how she could.
“I want to raise awareness and get some donations for those affected by Hurricane Ian,” Ginder told Extra Inning Softball. “Since I can’t actually be home to help.”
Working with a 501(c)(3) organization, Ginder organized a donation drive for hurricane relief. Appealing to the softball community, Ginder asked for donations that would help with even some of the most basic needs incurred by those affected by Hurricane Ian all across Florida.
“It’s not easy being away from home when disaster strikes,” Ginder wrote on Twitter last week. “Because I can’t assist the people of my state in person, I have partnered with Goods4Greatness to accept financial donations that will assist in helping those affected by Hurricane Ian get back on their feet.”
When giving, Ginder asked that any donation be specified as for Hurricane Relief. To donate, click here.
