1. Conference Breakdown
Oakland won both the regular-season and Horizon tournament titles in 2022, finishing with a tight lead atop the league standings but cementing their champion status with a run in the conference tournament.
Add the Horizon League to the conferences affected by this summer’s realignment. Former champion and perennial postseason team Illinois-Chicago departed for the Missouri Valley Conference. The Horizon did not replace the Flames.
Nine teams make up the current Horizon League softball offering – those programs include Cleveland State, Detroit Mercy, Green Bay, IUPUI, Northern Kentucky, Oakland, Purdue Fort Wayne, Robert Morris, and Youngstown State.
