There’s a lot of player movement around the Rocky Top softball program these days.
Over the last few months, the Vols have seen Ally Shipman and Callie Turner transfer out, to Alabama and Arkansas respectively, while bringing in Ivy Davis from Arizona, Erin Edmoundson from Texas Tech, Kelcy Leach, also from Texas Tech.
Today, UT announced the signing of a standout pitcher from Texas in the Big 12… or that the SEC (if you’re following the sports news, you get the joke!)?
Here’s the official Vols release on the latest pickup… and it’s a good one:

Tennessee Softball Signs Transfer Pitcher Ryleigh White
Tennessee head coach Karen Weekly has announced the signing of Texas transfer pitcher Ryleigh White to the Lady Vol softball program.
“Ryleigh throws a heavy ball which provides a great complement to our current pitching staff,” Weekly said.
“She was a key pitcher for Athletics Mercado, the 2019 PGF National Champions, and has been a part of winning teams her entire career. She has so much room to grow and our staff is excited to work with her.”
The 6-1 right-hander from Washington Township, New Jersey, spent her freshman campaign at Texas, making 20 appearances with seven starts for the Longhorns in 2021. She compiled a 5-1 record and 3.57 ERA, collecting 40 strikeouts and six saves this past spring.
A highly touted prospect out of high school, White was rated No. 7 on the Extra Elite 100 Class of 2020 national player rankings and No. 33 according to FloSoftball’s Hot 100. She played travel ball for Athletics Mercado, powering the A’s to the prestigious Premier Girls Fastpitch (PGF) 18U National Championship in the summer of 2019.
White attended Immaculate Heart Academy in Washington Township, earning Extra Innings Second Team All-America and NFCA All-Region honors as a junior with a 20-2 overall record, 0.62 ERA and 277 strikeouts over 136 innings of work. She was also a two-time All-State selection (2018, 19) and was the NorthJersey.com player of the year in 2019.
