As we finished up the summer with the PGF 16U and 14U National Championships last week, one of the strongest teams we saw was the Georgia Firecrackers 16U team led by head coach Kyle Sewell.
In the Premier division, the team from Atlanta finished 3rd and barely missed making the championship game after being defeated 1-0 by a strong A’s-Mercado squad.
After the tourney, Coach Sewell commented: “It always takes a little bit of luck to finish as high as we did at PGF along with some good breaks and the girls coming together at the right time to play to the level they did.”
“Our defense got behind our pitchers and our offense did what we had to do, either getting the timely hits or manufacturing runs at the right time. It was a total group effort by all players and coaches and we couldn’t be more proud of this group!”
