2024 Schedule

BOSTON – Highlighted by meetings with 2023 NCAA Super Regional participants Northwestern and Duke, the five-time defending Patriot League regular season champion Boston University softball team has unveiled its 2024 schedule.

Coming off a program and conference record-breaking 52-10 campaign that included their fifth NCAA appearance since 2016, the Terriers and ninth-year head coach Ashley Waters will compete in 15 contests against squads that posted a top-100 RPI this past spring with six scheduled opponents reaching the postseason. BU will be on the road for the first 24 contests before opening the home slate against Yale on Tuesday, March 19, in a doubleheader set for a 2 p.m. start.

The program’s 37th season will get underway with BU opening Stetson’s Frank Griffin Classic against Binghamton and SIUE on Friday, Feb. 9, in DeLand, Florida. All five contests, including two against the host Hatters, will feature opponents who collected at least 28 wins last spring.

Over the next two weekends in North Carolina at the Charlotte Invitational (Feb. 16-18) and the Duke Invitational (Feb. 23-24), the Terriers will battle their first ACC opponent in the Blue Devils and face 2023 NCAA Regional finalist Charlotte twice. The Terriers will also take to the circle against the Big Ten’s Michigan State and Big East’s Villanova.

For Spring Break, BU will remain on the East Coast with nine combined games in South Carolina against opponents coming off 32+ win campaigns. On March 8-12, the Terriers will participate in Coastal Carolina’s Beach Chicken Brawl and then make the short trek to the University of South Carolina’s Garnet & Black Invitational on March 14-16. For the final weekend, they will be paired up with the Regional finalist Gamecocks, NCAA participant Minnesota, the Big Ten champion Wildcats and also Michigan State.

Once back in New England, the Terriers will open the 19-game home slate against the Bulldogs for the second consecutive year with a doubleheader and then start Patriot League play against Army West Point (March 23-24) in a rematch of the 2023 PL Championship Final.

BU has scheduled a home-and-away series this year against UConn with a visit to Storrs on March 26 and then a return trip by the Huskies on April 9. The Terriers will also host non-conference opponents in UMass Lowell (April 2), Rhode Island (April 17), Merrimack (April 24) and Boston College (April 30). The only other non-conference road games will take place at Harvard on April 16 in a doubleheader.

During conference play, BU will host Holy Cross (April 13-14), Bucknell (April 20-21) and finally Lehigh in the regular season finale on May 4-5 with visits planned for Colgate (April 6-7) and Lafayette (April 27-28).

The Patriot League tournament will feature the top four teams in the standings with the top seed hosting on May 9-11.
