East Tennessee State has parted ways with head coach Belinda Hendrix, Extra Inning Softball confirmed on Tuesday.
Multiple media outlets reported the coach’s ouster on Tuesday afternoon. A news release from the school, quoted by multiple outlets, reportedly said the school “has parted ways with Hendrix for cause following numerous complaints from student-athletes, parents, and community members who cited an unhealthy team culture.”

Hendrix spent one season as the Buccaneers’ head coach, compiling an 8-48 overall record during her tenure.
In March, multiple members of the ETSU roster levied allegations of retaliation, mental abuse, and verbal abuse against Hendrix and her husband/assistant coach Jimmy Hendrix. Athletic director Scott Carter, who hired Hendrix as head coach, parted ways with the school in early August
A Tuesday statement released to local media outlets quoted interim athletic director Dr. Richard Sander: “The mental health and overall well-being of our student-athletes is our top priority as an athletics program. We have been working with Ms. Hendrix for some time in an effort to improve the situation. Unfortunately, we have not seen the results we expect.”
