Florida catcher Julia Cottrill has entered the NCAA’s transfer portal, sources confirmed to Extra Inning Softball on Thursday.
She spent the 2020 and 2021 seasons as part of the Gator roster and has three years of eligibility remaining entering the 2022 season.
As a freshman, Cottrill batted .323 in 25 games for the Gators during the abbreviated 2020 season, recording 11 RBIs and scoring 10 runs on the shortened year. During her sophomore season in 2021, the catcher was named to the SEC’s All-Newcomer Team and also earned third-team All-Region honors after the year.
In addition to her collegiate exploits, Cottrill was part of the USA Junior Women’s National Team in 2017 and 2019, helping lead the team to a Gold medal in the U-19 WBSC World Cup in ’19.
Possible destinations for Cottrill via the portal aren’t immediately known, but it’s worth noting that her father, Jeff, is an assistant coach at Oklahoma State.
