Florida is hiring Chelsey Barclay Dobbins as the program’s new pitching coach.
Dobbins spent the last eight seasons as pitching coach at North Carolina. During her tenure, she was part of the staff that led UNC to a second-place conference finish in 2017, as well as runner-up finishes in the ACC Coastal division in both 2018 and ’19. During the 2023 season, the Tar Heels – led by sophomore Lilli Backes – posted a 3.00 team ERA, with 26 wins, a .254 opponent’s batting average, and 248 strikeouts in 368 innings of work in the circle.
In addition to her duties as the pitching coach in Chapel Hill, Dobbins also worked with the Tar Heel baserunners.
Prior to UNC, Dobbins’ resume includes stints as an assistant at Cal Poly, Marshall, and Louisiana-Monroe.
Florida’s pitching staff compiled a 3.69 staff ERA, with 38 wins and 210 strikeouts during the 2023 campaign. The Gators have a completely new bullpen entering 2024, after graduating three pitchers and losing two others to the transfer portal. Current and former National Gatorade Players of the Year Keagan Rothrock and Ava Brown are part of the Gators’ incoming freshman class.
