Class of 2029 rankings will officially kick off on February 6, 2026, and the excitement is bigger than ever. With more nominations than any previous class—over 1,300 athletes submitted — this year’s rollout promises to showcase the nation’s deepest pool of talent.

Rankings Checklist
Other outlets may offer rankings, but none match the depth, integrity, or access of Extra Inning Softball. Here’s why:

We’re proud to be rated the #1 source of fastpitch coverage in the country for ages 8U–18U, and we’re only getting stronger.
National Honor Roll
Extra Inning Softball’s Honor Roll will showcase the nation’s top academic athletes, highlighting players with GPAs from 3.5 to 4.0+, on the following dates:
- Feb 7 – Distinguished Prospects for 3.5-3.75 GPA
- Feb 8 – Extra Selects for 3.75-3.99 GPA
- Feb 9 – Extra Elite Scholars for 4.0+ GPA

Region Rankings Schedule
Each day, we’ll release rankings by region for pitchers, catchers, infielders, and outfielders. Here’s the schedule:
- Feb 9 – Northeast
- Feb 10 – Southeast
- Feb 11 – Midwest
- Feb 12 – Southwest
- Feb 13 – Mountain
- Feb 14 – West
Extra Elite 100 Rankings
The Class of 2029 Extra Elite 100 will be released in four primary categories: Pitchers, Catchers, Infielders, and Outfielders.
- Feb 16: Extra Elite 100 (#100–11) – Every Position
- Feb 17: Extra Elite 100 (#10–6) – Every Position
- Feb 18 – Feb 20: People’s Choice Vote – Top 5 Fan Picks
- Feb 21: Fastpitch Fan Pick Top 5
- Feb 22: Extra Elite 100 Top 5
National Select & Prospect Rankings
The Class of 2029 rankings continue with two national lists that further showcase the depth of elite talent across the country.
The National Extra Select Athletes, ranked 101–200, will be announced on February 23 for all positions, followed by the National Extra Prospect Athletes, ranked 201–300, revealed on Feb 24.
Both national lists will be released by position, spotlighting top performers among pitchers, catchers, infielders, and outfielders nationwide. Rankings news will be published HERE!

How We Rank — and Why It Matters
At Extra Inning Softball, our rankings process is fueled by proprietary software that helps us organize nominations, analyze data, and identify standout performers across every position and region.
But we don’t stop at numbers. We’ve also assembled a Regional Rankings Advisory Board made up of respected head coaches, recruiting coordinators, and organizational leaders from across the country who volunteer their insights to ensure our lists reflect what’s truly happening on the field.
Our staff invests hundreds of hours per cycle researching stats, verifying performance footage, and evaluating nominations. This is not a plug-and-play system—it’s a deeply involved process that prioritizes accuracy, fairness, and reach.

Realigned Regions
We’ve spent the last two years listening, learning, and evolving. That’s why Extra Inning Softball realigned our regional system to create a more balanced and fair foundation for evaluating players. Each region offers:
- Geographical equity in competition and talent pools
- Improved visibility for players from traditionally underrepresented states
- Cleaner comparison for national rankings and Hotlists
The realignment allows us to better capture what makes players special in their part of the country—while also recognizing how they stack up on a national level.
