Here’s a look at two of this weekend’s big club events, the Power50 Invitational held in Tennessee & the Top Gun Invitational held in Missouri.
We start off in the Midwest…

INDIANA SHOCKWAVES PULL UPSET IN 18U FINALS AT TOP GUN INVITATIONAL
In a battle of top Hoosier State teams, Indiana Shockwaves-Perry pulled off a 7-2 upset over Indiana Magic Gold-Rudd, #46 in the Extra Elite Eighty 18U Club Rankings, in the 18U Maverick finals of the Top Gun Invitational on Sunday in Kansas City.
Claire Norred pitched four innings of scoreless relief, allowing four hits, no walks and striking out one to earn the victory and Emma Summers pitched two scoreless innings of relief, allowing two hits and striking out three to notch the save for the Shockwaves.
Marah Wood belted a three-run home run in the top of the third to break a 2-2 tie and give the Shockwaves the lead for good.
Bailey Caylor went 2 for 4 with a run scored and an RBI, Macee Roberst went 1 for 4 with a double, a run scored and an RBI, Chloe Tragesser went 2 for 4 with a run scored and an RBI, Olivia Latimer went 1 for 3 with a run scored and an RBI and Riley Hasseld went 2 for 4 with a run scored for the Shockwaves in the finals.
“We were only able to have about four full practices and with our entire high school season cancelled I was a little unsure how we would respond in our first couple of games,” Shockwaves coach Walt Perry said. “You could see our confidence growing with each game we played this week and I’m sure this will help motivate us for the (USA Elite Select World Fastpitch Championships).”

MINNESOTA BOMBERS COME UP VICTORIOUS IN 16U FINALS
Emily Boyer went 2 for 2 with two homers and three RBIs and Lauren Granger homered as Minnesota Bombers 16U-Acketz picked up a 4-1 win over Select Fastpitch-Kay, #68 in the Extra Elite Eighty 16U Club Rankings, in the 16U Maverick finals of the Top Gun Invitational.
Keira Murphy turned in a stellar effort in the circle for the Bombers, allowing six hits, one earned run, two walks and striking out one in seven innings to post the complete game victory.

COLORADO ANGELS KNOCK OFF BANDITS IN 14U FINALS
Josilynn Veltien pitched a complete game to help Colorado Angels-Gaffin to a 5-1 victory over Beverly Bandits Futures Premier-Michalski, #31 in the Extra Elite Eighty 14U Club Rankings, in the 14U Maverick finals of the Top Gun Invitational.
Veltien allowed three hits, no earned runs, two walks and struck out two in six innings to record the victory.
Peyton Marvel went 2 for 4 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI, Ingrid Dalla went 1 for 4 with a double and an RBI, Jai Hernandez went 2 for 3 with an RBI, Summer Horn went 1 for 3 with a run scored, Jordyn Heronimus went 2 for 3 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI and Emma Cox had a sacrifice fly to power the Angels’ offense.
“They did all of this without their head coach Dawn Gaffin present due to responsibilities with COVID-19 at home,” Gaffin said. “Coach Jake Long, Coach Austin Tittle and Coach Luke VonHagen led the Angels through the tournament to the championship game.”
