When pursuing a goal, we often get so caught up in the outcome that we overlook the importance of the process itself. It’s easy to focus solely on the goal—whether it’s a championship, a personal record, or a milestone—and forget about the steps, the growth, and the small victories that happen along the way. But, as the saying goes, “The day you plant the seed is not the day you eat the fruit.” This wisdom encourages us to shift our focus from just the goal to the journey itself, appreciating the growth that happens in every small step forward.

Process vs. Goal: Understanding the Difference

A process is a series of actions taken to achieve a particular end, while a goal is the object of our ambition or effort. The difference? While a goal gives us direction, the process is where the real work—and the real joy—lies.

I know it gets redundant, but as I’ve gone through my life, enjoying the process has become so relevant to me. The times when I’ve trusted the process and celebrated each step—even when things didn’t go as planned—are the times I felt the most alive, the most connected to my goals, and the most fulfilled.
