Kent State and head coach Eric Oakley have “mutually agreed to part ways”, the school announced on Tuesday.

Oakley spent nine seasons with the program, including eight as head coach of the Golden Flashes after one year as an assistant coach.

During the 2023 season, the Golden Flashes posted a 18-31 overall record and a 13-14 showing in MAC play.

Under Oakley’s guidance, the Golden Flashes won the MAC regular-season championship in 2016 and the MAC tournament title in 2017. Following the 2016 season, Oakley was named the Mid-American Conference Coach of the Year.

Prior to Kent State, Oakley’s resume includes a stint on staff at Eastern Michigan and a tenure as head coach at North Dakota.
