Event News: Bolts, Mojo-Lunsford and Bandits-Moran Crowned Champions at PGF Show Me The Money (June 12, 2022)

Birmingham Thunderbolts Premier defeated Windermere Wildfire-Pollock, 2-0, to win the 18U PGF Show Me The Money championship on Sunday at Florida.

Many of the top teams in the country converged at PGF Show Me The Money Thursday-Sunday, June 9-12, in Newberry, FL. Here are some of the highlights from bracket play on Day 4 (All rankings Extra Elite Eighty Club Rankings):

BOLTS 18U PREMIER GOES UNDEFEATED AT PGF SHOW ME THE MONEY

Rocky Thompson’s #3 Birmingham Thunderbolts Premier completed an undefeated run at PGF Show Me The Money with a 2-0 victory over Windermere Wildfire-Pollock in the 18U championship game on Sunday at Katie Seashole Pressley Stadium in Gainesville, FL.

Louisiana State-bound P Alea Johnson and Tennessee-bound P Charli Orsini combined for the Bolts to shut out the Wildfire. Johnson started and pitched four hitless innings with one balk and three strikeouts. Orsini pitched three scoreless innings of relief, allowed three hits, one walk and had no strikeouts.

Geeorgia Tech-committed 2023 OF Gracie Hillman went 2 for 3 with a stolen base and a run, Alabama-bound OF Larissa Preuitt went 1 for 4 with and RBI and Oregon-committed 2023 3B/1B/C Katie Flannery went 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI to lead the Thunderbolts’ offense.

The Thunderbolts beat NC Challengers Premier-Renzi, 10-0, D1Vision Elite, 7-2, #33 EC Bullets-Schnute, 8-1, Windermere Wildfire-Pollock, 6-2, Fury Premier 2022-Moyer, 4-0, and Windermere Wildfire-Pollock, 2-0, in bracket play Saturday-Sunday to win the tournament.

Windermere Wildfire-Pollock, which was unranked, had a strong showing at the tournament. They beat Jacksonville Storm-Channell, 4-3, lost to #3 Birmingham Thunderbolts Premier, 6-2, then beat Florida Impact-Feldman, 2-0, Miami Stingrays Gold-Gator, 3-2, and Fury Premier 2022-Moyer, 7-6, on the loser’s bracket to earn a rematch against Birmingham Thunderbolts Premier in the championship game.

“Yes, I am very proud of my team,” Wildfire coach Wes Pollock said. “They stepped up and showed they are amongst the top contenders in the country.”

Ava Maria-committed 2023 1B Thalia Romero hit .426, Minnesota State University Moorhead-bound C Emma Wood hit .387, Lander-bound OF Emily Allen hit .357, Florida Technical Institute-bound 3B/OF Mandy Schwartz hit .340 and Florida Gulf Coast-bound P/1B Gracelyn Wallace had 52 strikeouts in 45 innings for the Wildfire for the tournament.

Birmingham Thunderbolts Premier also pocketed $10,000 for winning the tournament.

Mojp 2023-Lunsford beat #8 Virginia Unity-Johnson/Ross to win the 16U PGF Show Me The Money title.

MOJO 2023-LUNSFORD CLAIMS 16U PGF SHOW ME THE MONEY TITLE

#34 Mojo 2023-Lunsford came out of the loser’s bracket, avenged two of its losses and beat #8 Virginia Unity-Johnson/Ross, 4-0, to claim the 16U PGF Show Me The Money championship on Sunday at Katie Seashole Pressley Stadium Gainesville, FL

2024 P Haley Ferguson allowed four hits and struck out seven to record the shutout victory for Mojo 2023-Lunsford.

Virginia Tech-committed 2023 3B/1B Maci Masters gave the Mojo a 1-0 lead with a solo blast in the top of the fourth inning.

Masters and 2024 C/UT Caroline Patterson both had multi-hit games and Florida State-committed 2023 OF Kennedy Harp had two stolen bases for the Mojo against Unity.

Mojo 203-Lunsford went 3-1 in pool play games on Thursday and Friday with a 13-10 loss to Unity-Johnson/Ross. They beat #4 Tennessee Mojo 2023, 6-5, EC Bullets-Bilz, 9-3, #13 Georgia Impact 06-Sampson, 6-2, and lost to Unity-Johnson/Ross, 4-2, then beat #1 Beverly Bandits Premier-Conroy, 7-6, and Unity-Johnson/Ross, 4-0, in bracket play on Saturday and Sunday to win the tournament.

Unity-Johnson/Ross beat #40 LLG Elite-Corn, 8-1, Carolina Impact-Sherrill, 7-1, Fury Platinum X-Hudgins, 13-3, Mojo 2023-Lunsford, 4-2, and lost to Mojo 2023-Lunsford, 4-0, in bracket play on Saturday and Sunday.

Mojo 2023-Lunsford earned $10,000 for winning the tournament.

Beverly Bandits Premier-Moran beat Visrginia Unity-Meadows/Spinogatti, 8-0, in five innings in the 14U PGF Show Me The Money final.

BANDITS-MORAN DEFEAT UNITY-MEADOWS/SPINOGATTI IN 14U PGF SHOW ME THE MONEY FINAL

#2 Beverly Bandits Premier-Moran battled through the loser’s bracket and beat #23 Virginia Unity-Meadows/Spinogatti, 8-0, in 5 innings in the PGF Show Me The Money 14U championship game on Sunday at Katie Seashole Pressley Stadium in Gainesville, FL.

2025 C/3B Ava Ratliff delivered a two-run single to help Bandits-Moran take a 3-0 lead in the top of the third inning.

2025 P/1B Ava Lorenzatti had an RBI single, 2025 CF/2B Ava Hensley had a two-run single and 2025 OF Hannah Simko had a two-run double as Bandits-Moran increased its lead to 6-0 in the top of the fifth inning.

Lorenzatti pitched a one-hitter, four walks and struck out one in five innings for Bandits-Moran,

Babdits-Moran beat MMSL Riptide 07, 8-0. and Bullets 08-Barahona, 2-1, and lost to #24 Atlanta Vipers 08-Tamborra, 1-0, in bracket play on Saturday. Bandits-Moran came back to beat #18 Beverly Bandits Future-Norwood, 5-4, #29 Georgia Impact 08-Taylor, 5-1, and Atlanta Vipers 08-Tamborra, 11-6, in loser’s bracket games and beat Unity-Meadows/Spinogatti, 8-0, in the final to win the tournament.

Unity-Meadows/Spinogatti beat Auburndale Synergy-Luke, 5-0, #16 Virginia Unity-Johnson, 9-0, #15 Lady Dukes National-Lamar, 10-0, #1 Birmingham Thunderbolts Premier 2025-Kemp, 8-2, and Atlanta Vipers 08-Tamborra, 4-2, in bracket play before losing to Bandits-Moran, 8-0, in the final.

Bandits-Moran earned $10,000 for winning the tournament.
