One of the best events I’ve ever attended while in the softball space over the last 20+ years has been Empowering Girls for Life which is a tremendous get-together of inspiring and accomplished female role models… both in sports and in other areas.
The FREE one-day event is so worthwhile for athletes, parents, coaches… everyone!
Below are the details of this year’s EGFL and I can’t recommend it enough… and please note that, if you can’t watch that day for some reason, the on-line presentations will be available for two weeks afterwards if you sign up.

Featured Speakers include Legendary Softball Coaches
The speakers for the 5th annual Empowering Girls for Life (EGFL) event, powered by Atlas Excavating, has been announced and includes:
- national championship-winning coaches,
- the winningest softball coach in history,
- the super-featherweight world champion,
- a girl headed to the first space mission on Mars!
The free one-day event—similar to the last two years in that it will be held virtually to ensure the safety of speakers and guests—celebrates powerful women leading the way in their respective fields.
This year’s EGFL will be held on Saturday, September 10th—two weeks from Saturday—so mark your calendars to watch live or, for two weeks afterwards, on the Chime Live platform.
As the event organizers like to say: “Together, we will create the female leaders of tomorrow by empowering girls today.”

EGFL 2022 Speakers
Dawn Staley: U.S. Olympic Hall of Fame Women’s Basketball player, WNBA Hall of Fame inductee, National Championship coach at University of South Carolina, Head Coach of USA Women’s Basketball.
Carol Hutchins: Just retired yesterday (Aug. 24, 2022), NFCA Hall of Fame softball coach at University of Michigan, winningest coach in the history of UM athletics, 18 Big Ten Coach of the Year awards, founder of the Michigan Softball Academy
Alyssa Carson: Astronaut trainee with a goal of being selected for future human spaceflight to Mars. She is a mission researcher in suborbital space who enrolled in the NASA Possum Academy at age 15. Alyssa has her rocket license, advanced scuba certification, pilot license, skydiving class A license, and is a certified aquanaut.
Patty Gasso: NFCA Hall of Fame softball coach at Oklahoma University, 12-time Big 12 Coach of the Year, four-time National Championship coach
Alycia Baumgardner: Super-featherweight boxing champion, professional boxer, first female to sign a deal with King’s Promotions as a boxer, and founder of Temple Raw Juices.
(Emcee) Sydney Supple: Division 1 Softball player at Northwestern University entering her senior year studying Broadcast Journalism.
