STARZ GOLD DOMINANT IN RUN TO HFL EASTERN FALL TITLE
Williamsburg Starz Gold-Bunn outscored its opponents 40-2, hit 10 home runs and beat the Wichita Mustangs, 5-1, in the finals en route to winning the 18U title at the HFL Eastern Fall Championship on Sunday in Myrtle Beach, SC.
“It’s really special,” Virginia-committed 2022 RHP Eden Bigham said. “This has been our first fall season as a full team and it’s really crazy how everyone plays their part and we really work well together. It’s honestly the best feeling. We’ve been playing showcases for years. This was the first tournament we actually played to win and you can definitely tell a difference. We’re playing to win, not to impress.”
Bigham tossed a no-hitter with one walk and 11 strikeouts and Virginia-committed 2022 MIF Jade Hylton drilled a two-run bomb to help Williamsburg Starz Gold-Bunn to a 5-0 win over Lady Lightning Gold DPS-Corn in the winner’s bracket semifinals.
Florida State-bound 2021 C Katie Bright had a three-run blast and Seminole State College-bound 2021 P/1B/3B Bailie Runner had a two-run homer during a nine-run rally in the bottom of the second to help the Wichita Mustangs knock off LLG DPS-Corn, 13-7, in the loser’s bracket semifinals to earn a spot in the finals.
