Thanks to the softball community, Extra Inning Softball has reached an all-time high in followers and traffic—one example: we’ve had 1.5 million people visit our site since we started in 2018!
We’re happy to say we’ve added people behind the scenes to help us grow even bigger and better and soon you’ll see some improvements on the site and new offerings that you’ll really be happy with.
What’s really put us on the map, of course, is our Extra Elite 100 rankings of top club players which has been done for the Classes of 2014 through 2025 (and soon 2026).
Every day we receive several inquiries on how the rankings are done, who can nominate players and when upcoming classes will be featured. This Q&A should answer most of your questions… if you have more, be sure to use our Contact Us tab on the site!

Q: How are the Extra Elite 100, Position and other rankings (#’s 101-500) compiled by Extra Inning Softball?
A: We evaluate players as a staff in-person at events and solicit input from college scouts and club coaches. In addition, we take into consideration other information such as player stats, honors and accomplishments, especially at high-level events, other sports played, testing analytics, etc.
Q: Who can, or should, nominate a player?
A: Club and college coaches are the primary outside sources for nominations. Players and families can send emails with information that will be stored for bio compilations and potential stories. Email to: [email protected] or use our Contact Us… both will reach us equally quickly!
Q: What information should be included for a player nomination?
We ask coaches and scouts who submit recommendations to include any or all of the following:
- player name
- club team
- hometown, state
- position(s)
- suggestion where the player should be approximately slotted/ranked (examples: 20-30, 65-76, 125-150, 200-250, etc.)
- player stats & honors (as available)
- key individual and team accomplishments,
- why the player should be ranked (a “scouting report” or evaluation of strengths)
- recruiting news (commits, trips, camps, contacts, etc.)
- human interest insights (example: dad played in the NFL, player is all-state in basketball, etc.)
- head shot of each player
- optional: a good action photo

A: Click on the “Rankings” tab found on our home page. Scroll to the bottom, select “Nomination(s)” and complete the form.
