Extra Inning Softball Position Rankings: Class of 2026 (June 26, 2023)

After three weeks of intensive coverage, we continue with our updated look at the Class of 2026 by featuring the talented athletes by position.

Along with our Extra Elite 100 and Extra Elite #’s 101-plus lists, we’ve also ranked the players in the Classes of 2019 through 2027 by the position groups they were nominated for.

Here are the previous rankings for each grad year and when the class ratings were released (includes the most recent updates for each class):

Below, you will find the revised Position Rankings for the Class of 2026!

Many players can take the field at multiple positions; we placed the players at the positions we feel they are mostly likely to play or were recommended to us by club and/or college coaches.

Note: we have separated the Pitcher position into two categories:

• P – Primary (the main focus is pitching)
• P – Duo (the pitcher plays another position and/or hits at a high level)

Additionally, we have broken the Infielder position into four categories because of the large number of talented players and also because their skill sets are fairly different:

• 1B (first base)
• MIF (second base and/or shortstop)
• 3B (third base)
• CIF (first base and/or third base)
• IF (can play multiple infield positions)

Other positions include:

• C (catcher… primary position)
• OF (outfield… can play left field, center field and/or right field)
• UT (utility… plays many positions as needed)
