Whatever Lady Dukes-Lamar OF/UT Aleyah Terrell does, it has to be fast.
We’re talking blazing speed fast.
“I believe what separates her in the 2022 class from other slappers is her speed and her ability to hit away now with power,” Lady Dukes coach James Lamar said. “The way she plays defense, her hustle, her approach to every at-bat and most importantly, her ability to be clutch for her team is who Aleyah Terrell is.”
“Aleyah recently set state records as a freshman in North Carolina in the 100 meter dash, following in her aunt’s footsteps, who was a (state champion) sprinter, and her father (Anthony Terrell), who was an phenom basketball player in West Virginia. She is getting attention from several Power 5 schools.”
The 2022 Extra Elite 100 candidate is an extremely coachable athlete, the type that coaches love to have in their program.
“When it comes to Aleyah Terrell, I could speak for days about the person she is on and off the field,” Lamar said. “The best way to describe #99 is she has a burning passion to be first in all she does. The first to practice, first in every sprint in conditioning, first to help pick up after practice, and she lets you know you are not beating me in anything. Aleyah is everything you want in a player, and it’s been a blessing to coach her from 12U to 16U.”
She’s also the consummate teammate.
“Aleyah is a phenomenal player,” Lady Dukes OF Brijana “Breezy” Burnett said. “She brings fire to our team. There is never a time when she is down. She always puts her teammates before her. No matter what type of adversity she faces, she always finds a way to overcome it. She shakes everything off no issue and always bounces back. She has confidence like no other and has very high softball IQ. She’s going places for sure and she knows no one can stop her. She also is an amazing player. She’s a leader and a major part of our team for sure. Not to mention how amazing of a teammate she is.”
Not only is Terrell, who is uncommitted, super fast, but she’s also super competitive.
“Aleyah is such a great teammate,” Florida-committed infielder Layla Lamar said. “She is always super positive and she brings so much fun to the game. She is super fast and I really think her ability to use small ball and place the ball when she is slapping makes her so effective. Aleyah is good at taking good angles to the ball in the outfield and has a good arm. She is super competitive in everything we do whether it’s conditioning at practice or who can make the best uniform combination.”
“Aleyah and I have been playing together since I was about 10 and she has always been a little bit older and she treats me like a younger sister and we all know she will be there if we need her. One of the most important things about Aleyah is her work ethic. It’s safe to say she is one of the hardest-working players on our team and will do anything to become a better ballplayer.”
Terrell’s work ethic is a notch above most players.
“Aleyah brings something to the game that not a lot of people can,” Duke-committed shortstop Nadia Sykes said. “She is super committed and such a hard worker. On defense, she can track down any ball and on offense she can slap the ball in any gap. Her speed is unmatched and she is such a great asset on our team. She’s going to be a big-time player on a big time team in college one day.”
