Ohio State-committed SS Lottie Landmesser knew LSU-committed SS/UT McKaela Walker better than anyone on EC Bullets 04-Mayfield from the moment she stepped on the field.
“When I first joined this team, I was in awe of McKaela’s natural ability and athleticism,” said Landmesser, #27 in the 2023 Extra Elite 100. “Her ability to recognize and make contact with every pitch is like nothing I’ve ever seen before. If I had to choose anyone to be put in a crucial situation where we needed a run or someone to do their job, I would pick her over anyone every time. Since we play the same position, we are constantly pushing each other too be better then we were before, which sometimes you don’t find on a travel team.”
Walker is #7 in the 2023 Extra Elite 100.
“Our ability to push each other will prepare us for college and even the outside world. These past few years, we have created an unbreakable bond that allows us to play off of each other’s passion, effort, and work ethic. I’ve looked up to this girl ever since our first practice together, and I can’t wait to see her grow and succeed at the next level.”
Alabama State-committed OF Alora Bevily is Walker’s best friend on the team.
“I’ve known McKaela for about four years now and it feels like I’ve known her forever,” said Bevily, #49 in the 2023 Extra Elite 100. “She is my best friend on and off the field. McKaela is hands down one of the best athletes I have ever played and I’m saying this because she is my friend. She is the definition of being a utility player, being able to pitch, play second, third, shortstop and outfield is not easy to do … plus she’s a beast at it. McKaela is a very welcoming person and is by far a very genuine person. She will tell you the honest to God truth even if it might hurt your feelings. I love playing with Mckaela and wouldn’t trade playing with her for anything else.”
EC Bullets 04-Mayfield 1B/3B/UT Kip Heggood, #54 in the 2023 Extra Elite 100, said Walker is the consummate teammate.
“McKaela is an absolute beast on the field and has a glove like no other,” Heggood said. “Her amazing glove and bat makes our team better along with others. I have never played with a person that dislikes McKaela. She is truly one of a kind. She always has such a positive attitude and is always encouraging others. We all know that if you’re having a bad day, you can always count on her to make you laugh.”

Tell us about your travel team/organization and how you became involved with them?
It’s a very good organization. The coaches are loving and so is the team. I played for Georgia Impact in 10U, then made the switch to Bullets and have been there ever since.
What were some of the training methods and workouts you did to stay busy during the stay-at-home orders because of the coronavirus situation?
I liked to go to the cages and hit off the tee and front toss. I also liked going to the gym.
What is something you have faced in your life that has helped you become the person that you are today?
My Nana passing made me a stronger person.
What’s your most memorable softball story?
Getting 3rd place in Cali.
What’s something that people would be surprised to learn about you?
I’m really good at math.
What have you learned about yourself in the past year?
I’m very emotional.

The leadership and how hot my bat is.
What was the highlight of your summer season and/or fall season?
Being able to be back on the field with my girls.
