Maverick said it best in “Top Gun“: “I feel the need — the need for speed.”
Whenever Arizona Storm-Appel, #1 in the Extra Elite Eighty 14U Club Rankings, feels the need for speed, it calls on dynamic speedster Sierra Daniel.
“Sierra is the ultimate triple threat and our tone setter offensively,” 2023 P/1B Jocelyn Briski said. “Nearly every game our team is able to take the lead early because she’s so skilled at figuring out how to get on base and score, which then puts pressure on the other team. Countless times she’s bailed me out of some difficult pitching situations with her ability to make incredible plays most people can’t make.”
The uncommitted 2023 MIF’s skills on defense are just as exceptional as her offensive weapons.
“Sierra is a crazy good athlete that has a knack for making the game look easy,” said MIF Kate Vance, #8 in the 2024 Extra Elite 100. “She is extremely fast and can change a game with her speed at any time. I’m not sure which side of the ball she’s better at. She’s a very good defender. I have seen her make plays that look to be a guaranteed hit off the bat. Offensively, she seems to be on base more than not. She’s constantly putting pressure on the defense. She’ll bunt one at-bat, then hit a triple in the gap the very next time up. Sierra is elite in all facets of the game.”
Daniel has gained a lot of attention after helping lead Arizona Storm to the PGF 14U Premier national title game as a first-year 14U team, but she remains humble.
“What makes Sierra unique is her humbleness,” Vance said. “She’s a stud that gets well-deserved notoriety, yet she puts her teammates first and nothing is ever about her. She’s a great teammate and great friend.”
