Oklahoma-bound SS/OF Avery Hodge, #6 in the 2022 Extra Elite 100, has excelled in softball at every level — from club ball with Texas Bombers 18U Gold-Smith to the international level with Team USA’s 17U and 18U Junior National Team.
Texas Bombers Gold P Savannah “SJ” Geurin, #20 in the 2022 Extra Elite 100, plays with Hodge in club softball and will be teammates with her again in the future at Oklahoma.
“Avery is one of the best shortstops I’ve ever had the chance to play with,” Geurin said. “She is smooth with everything she does on the field. She brings such amazing energy to the team, always encouraging others. She is unique in so many ways. She has this passion and excitement for the game that everyone feeds off of. I’m so blessed to get to play with her.”
Hodge’s athleticism and worth ethic stand out to Ole Miss-bound P Grace Sparks, #30 in the 2023 Extra Elite 100.
“Avery Hodge is hands down the most athletic player that has ever touched the softball field,” Sparks said. “She has a work ethic that makes her stand out from the rest and is a leader that everyone looks up to. I’m super blessed to even play the sport with her and she is going to be legendary in college. She has changed the face of softball and is raising the bar every game she plays.”
LSU-bound C/OF Maci Bergeron, the Louisiana Gatorade State Player of the Year and #22 in the 2022 Extra Elite 100, plays with Hodge on the Texas Bombers and she got a chance to play with her on Team USA’s Junior National Team.
“I think Avery is a great asset to our team,” Bergeron said. “Her skills on the infield are unmatched. I’ve seen her make amazing plays even while she was under pressure. I think what makes her unique is her versatility. She can play almost any position on the field.”

High School Highlights: Batted .762, led the Eagles to a District title and reached the Final Four of the state championship tournament as a junior at Fort Bend Christian Academy.
Tell us about your travel team/organization and how you became involved with them?
I joined the Bombers organization in 2019 and have been with them ever since. One thing I love about the organization is how faith-oriented they are and how involved the coaches are. Coach Bill, Coach Scott (Smith), Coach James (Fuqua) and Coach Cat (Osterman) have been so good for me and have really pushed me to be the best player before I head off to college.
What were some of the training methods and workouts you did to stay busy during the stay-at-home orders because of the coronavirus situation?
I would hit off the tee in my garage and do workouts with my little sister every day after we got our school work done.
