Michigan great Kelly Holmes passed away on Wednesday. She was 47.
Holmes battled cancer for several years.
The Big Ten Pitcher of the Year in 1997 at Michigan, Holmes set the Wolverines’ career wins record and was an All-American. She earned Academic All-American honors twice and was also recognized as the Michigan Female Athlete of the Year during her career.
From Holmes’ online obituary: “She loved spending time with family and friends. She will be known for being a fierce competitor, witty, vibrant, kind, considerate, and loyal. Kelly’s beautiful smile could light up a room! Life is better for having known her.”
