How Softball Families can Joyfully Light the World in 2024: Calling the Softball Community to Join Our Efforts

At Extra Inning Softball, we are committed to supporting organizations that align with our mission to inspire, support, and empower others. After careful consideration, we’ve identified the Light the World campaign as a program that embodies these shared values, promoting kindness, service, and hope on a global scale.

We now call upon the softball community to join us in this meaningful effort. As advocates for empowering individuals—whether through sports, education, or acts of service—we believe in the power of coming together to make a difference. By partnering with the Light the World campaign, we can collectively help brighten lives and spread joy during this special season.

Just as Light the World supports its mission to foster Christlike service, Extra Inning Softball is proud to return the support by sharing the program’s incredible impact with our audience. Let’s team up to make the world a better place, one act of service at a time.

How the Softball Community Can “Light the World”?

“Light the World” is an inspiring initiative by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, inviting individuals and families to celebrate the holiday season by serving others in meaningful ways. Rooted in the teachings of Jesus Christ, the program encourages participants to spread kindness, hope, and love, especially during December, a season of giving and joy.

By engaging in small, simple acts of service, everyone has the chance to make a difference in their communities and beyond. To help participants get started, the program offers daily prompts and resources that guide people in following the example of Jesus Christ, the Light of the World

How to Participate: Text LIGHT to 71234 for Inspiration

One easy way to join the “Light the World” movement is by texting LIGHT to 71234. Participants will receive twice-weekly messages throughout December with ideas on how to serve others, learn more about angels in the Bible, and enjoy uplifting Christmas videos. This simple step offers a practical and inspiring way to keep the true spirit of Christmas alive during the holiday season.

Experience the Joy of Giving Through Giving Machines

A standout feature of the “Light the World” initiative is the Giving Machines—a creative, interactive way for people to give to those in need. These vending machines, stationed in cities worldwide, allow donors to purchase items like food, clothing, livestock, and more for individuals or families facing challenges. Finding a Giving Machine near you HERE!

Since their introduction in 2017, Giving Machines have raised over $32 million, providing millions of essential items to people around the globe. With all program operational costs covered by The Church of Jesus Christ, 100% of every donation directly benefits the recipients. This ensures that the generous contributions from donors go entirely toward fulfilling the purchased items.

This year, more than 500 nonprofit organizations will participate in the Giving Machine program, representing both local and global charities. Some of the esteemed global partners include:

UNICEF
American Red Cross
Save the Children
Days for Girls International
World Food Program

Whether it’s contributing to shelter, healthcare, education, career training, or even gifting livestock, Giving Machines allow people to share the joy of giving in a memorable and impactful way.
