Addyson O’Dell will continue her academic and athletic career competing in the ACC at The University of Louisville.
A middle-infielder, catcher, and utility player for the Beverly Bandits 16U squad, coached by Chad Moran, Addyson has been with the elite club organization since 10U.
“I got noticed by Dave Trackwell when I was nine at a tournament in Florida,” recalled the athlete. “My family had never heard of the Bandits, nor did we know of this level of competition. We live in southern Illinois, and to be on a team based out of Chicago was something my family had never thought of ever doing.”
Asked to try out in the fall of that year, she was told that if it wasn’t for her, there would be no hard feelings and she could go back to competing on a local team in Newton, Illinois. However, after witnessing the gathering of exceptional talent—even at the 10U level—there was no turning back for Addyson at this point.
“I thrive on competition and have always been challenged,” shared Addyson on what joining the Bandits meant to her. “I am an introvert to the max. My mom jokes all the time that I don’t make friends, [but] what happens is that I get ‘adopted’ by an extrovert, and they introduce me to their friends. Softball brings out this whole other side to me and I crave the competition so much. I become a whole other person and you would never know that I am the shyest person you’ll ever meet.”
