Lexie Hames has dreamed of playing Division I collegiate softball for as long as she can remember.
The talented right-handed pitcher out of Harmony, Pennsylvania would sit and watch the athletes play on television, envisioning herself out on the mound with the teams.
On September 1st, when more than 30 college coaches reached out to express interest in the right-handed pitcher joining their programs, she realized that achieving her childhood goal was closer than ever.
“Sometimes it is hard to step back and really realize everything you have been through and how much you accomplished. The sacrifices, countless hours of practice, and extreme amounts of effort are all worth it,” reflected Lexie. “I wouldn’t be the person I am today without learning valuable, growing, lessons along the way. Softball has taught me strength, perseverance, work ethic, and so much more.”
Leading into her sophomore fall in 2022, Lexie faced one of the biggest hardships in her career when she broke her main spin finger on her right hand.
“I played with it all of fall, and made it worse. I was in a cast for over a month and school season was right around the corner,” recalled the athlete. “But my love for the game was not going to deter me from the path I worked so hard for.”
