Olivia Pagano, a 2024 centerfielder and middle infielder for Staten Island Saints 18u Gold-Thaten, committed to Morgan State University on June 30, 2023, but her journey to this point was a very unlikely one.
“It’s been a whirlwind,” Pagano said. “I didn’t even know how to hold a bat or throw a ball until I was 9 years old. I did dance and theatre almost exclusively. One day I asked my mom and dad to sign me up for softball when I saw my two brothers playing little league baseball. I thought I could do it too.”
