Zayda Rocke, of Team North Carolina-Hinde, announced her commitment to play softball for the University of Maryland in late January of this year.
Rocke, a 2025 catcher and third baseman, started playing the game when she was only 9 years old.
“Growing up, I was always the youngest on the team because I would play on the older team with my older sister,” Rocke said. “My sister and I have always been close and made sure to always push each other especially the days when it’s just us at the fields.”
Rocke met her current travel ball coach Kevin Hinde in the summer of 2022 when she attended a camp that his daughter was at. He talked with her and ended up giving her the chance to play for him and his team. Rocke was so excited because this was the first time that she had gotten to compete with a team that played in the more well-known tournaments in the country. However, from there, her journey only got harder.
