Virginia is set to hire Jamie Allred as an assistant coach, sources confirmed to Extra Inning Softball.

Allred spent the last five seasons as pitching coach at North Texas, leading the Mean Green bullpen to impressive heights. In 2022, she was part of the coaching staff that led UNT to a conference tournament championship and a berth in the Stillwater regional final.

During that 2022 campaign, Allred shepherded a two-member pitching staff to tremendous success, with both Ashley Peters and Skylar Savage finishing in the top five in the conference in strikeouts and earning a combined 35 wins in the circle.

In 2023, the Mean Green pitching staff combined for a cumulative 2.13 ERA, again reaching 35 wins and holding opponents to a .214 batting average. UNT’s pitching staff allowed just 118 earned runs through the entire course of the year and notched 297 strikeouts.

She began her coaching career in 2018 as an assistant coach at Austin Peay.
