Texas A&M head coach Jo Evans will not have her contract renewed, the school announced.
Evans has spent 26 years as the Aggies’ leader and 37 years as a college head coach, including stints at Colorado State and Utah, her alma mater, before landing in College Station.
Victorious in 1,300 career games during her career as a head coach, Evans led her teams to the Women’s College World Series a total of five times, including twice at Utah and three times at Texas A&M, most recently in 2017.
Just twice during Evans’ career as a head coach did her team post a losing record on the field; those two instances came in 1986 and ‘87, at Colorado State in her first two years as a head coach. She never recorded a losing record during a full season at Utah or at Texas A&M.
The Aggies are currently riding a 19-year streak of appearing in the NCAA tournament, a streak that began in 2002 and includes seven trips to the Super Regional round, including the three Women’s College World Series berths.
A 2015 inductee into the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Hall of Fame, Evans is also a member of the Utah Athletics Hall of Fame for her endeavors as both a player and coach.
