Oklahoma State pitching coach John Bargfeldt has retired, sources confirmed to Extra Inning Softball.

Bargfeldt spent the last four seasons on the Cowgirls’ staff, part of the staff that led the program to three consecutive Women’s College World Series appearances from 2021-23.

During his tenure at OSU, Bargfeldt tutored a full stable of pitchers, including Kelly Maxwell and Lexi Kilfoyl, the latter who enjoyed a breakout campaign in 2023. Morgan Day, Miranda Elish, Carrie Eberle, and Kyra Aycock were also among the bullpen members who learned under his tutelage.

Prior to joining the OSU staff, Bargfeldt spent fourteen years as head coach at Tulsa. He led the Golden Hurricane to a winning record in every season of his tenure, won thirteen conference championships, and made eleven NCAA tournament appearances. When he departed the program to join OSU in the summer of 2019, he did so as the winningest head coach in Tulsa program history.

Pokes Report first officially reported Bargfeldt’s retirement.
