Charlotte is hiring Katie Rietkovich Browder as the program’s new hitting coach.

First, I want to thank Jamie Trachsel, Ryker Chason, Shannon Singletary, Keith Carter, Jennifer Saxon, all of the Ole Miss Administration, the current and former players and staff for an amazing six years in Oxford, MS. I am forever grateful for their support and Oxford will always be a place that my family and I call home,” Rietkovich Browder told Extra Inning Softball in a statement.

With that being said, I would like to thank Ashley Chastain for providing me the opportunity to join the Charlotte program as the Associate Head Coach. Ashley, Jody and I created a bond while on staff together at Ole Miss and I am ecstatic to be reunited with them again. The environment that Ashley has created at Charlotte is something that my family and I are thrilled to be a part of. Under Ashley’s leadership, Charlotte softball has made lots of noise across the country and I cannot wait to build on the foundation she has set and compete for a championship in the American Conference. I would also like to thank Chris Thomasson and Mike Hill for welcoming me and my family with open arms. From the moment I stepped on campus in Charlotte, I knew this was exactly where God wanted me to be. I’m excited to follow his light through this journey! Go Niners!”

Most recently, Browder spent the last three seasons as the hitting coach at Ole Miss, shepherding the Rebels to a program single-season home run record in 2023.

Prior to her tenure at Ole Miss, Browder was the hitting coach at Minnesota for three years and was part of the coaching staff that guided the Gophers to a berth in the Women’s College World Series in 2019.

Browder’s coaching resume includes a previous stint as volunteer assistant at Ole Miss from 2016-18, as well as a single season on staff at Savannah State at the beginning of her career.

In 2023, Charlotte finished the season 35-23, won the Conference USA regular-season title, and earned an at-large berth to the NCAA tournament. The Niner offense posted a team batting average of .260, with 78 home runs and a team on-base percentage of .375.
