Maryland is expected to hire Laura Heberling as their new pitching coach, sources confirmed to Extra Inning Softball on Tuesday.

Heberling spent the last four years on staff at Utah State, spending the last two years as the program’s associate head coach.

In 2022, Heberling shepherded an Aggies’ pitching staff that posted a 4.38 ERA. The group included all-conference honoree Kapri Toone, who posted a 2.89 ERA and 14 wins individually.

Prior to joining the Aggies’ staff, Heberling spent five seasons as the head coach at USC Beaufort. She led that program to a 177-92 overall record during her tenure.

Her resume also includes a stint as an assistant at USC Beaufort, as well as time on staff at Iowa Wesleyan, William Woods, and UNC Pembroke.
