Former SEC Standout Makinzy Herzog Transferring to Texas Tech

Makinzy Herzog is transferring to Texas Tech, she announced on social media late Wednesday night.

“See you soon big 12,” Herzog wrote, alongside photos of herself in a Red Raider uniform.

Herzog will have one season of eligibility remaining at Texas Tech.

In mid-August, Extra Inning Softball exclusively reported that Herzog would not return for her “super senior” season at Texas A&M, where she spent the past three seasons. She previously transferred from Florida State to join the Aggies in the summer of 2019. Herzog entered the transfer portal for the second time in early October.

The right-hander’s career in Aggieland included 70 pitching appearances and 136 total games played. An All-SEC honoree in 2021 and ’22, she also earned all-region honors in both years. She ends her college career with a 2.38 lifetime ERA, 34 wins, 329 strikeouts, and an opponent’s batting average of .191. She also boasts a career .323 batting average, 27 home runs, 113 RBIs, and 53 stolen bases.
