Golden Glove Award – National Top 5 in Each Region
MaxPreps and Extra Inning Softball partnered this spring to elevate high school softball by launching the Golden Glove Award series. Every two weeks, standout defenders from across the country were recognized—each meeting strict criteria, including a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage and a minimum number of total chances. For this final National Golden Glove Award, the Top 5 athletes in each region were selected based on region-specific qualifications, making this honor truly elite.

What is the Golden Glove Award?
Defense is a critical part of the game, and the Golden Glove Award honors the most skilled defensive players in high school softball. While offensive numbers often grab headlines, game-changing defensive plays can define a team’s success. This award ensures that elite fielders receive the recognition they deserve.
To qualify, athletes must:
- Maintain a perfect fielding percentage – 1.000
- Each region has its own set of qualifications—see the criteria below for each specific region.
Regional Standouts
Extra Inning Softball divides the country into six distinct regions—Northeast, Southeast, Midwest, Southwest, Mountain, and West—to ensure balanced and comprehensive coverage of the top fastpitch softball players nationwide.
