The OKC Spark have signed pitcher Emily Cerny to a professional contract.
Cerny, whose addition will bolster the Spark’s bullpen, is the first-ever NAIA alumnus to sign a contract in the Women’s Professional Fastpitch league. The WPF is in its second season of existence, while the Spark hold a 13-8 overall record in the midst of their debut campaign as a franchise.
A 2022 graduate of the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma, Cerny enjoyed a stellar career during her time as a Drover. While at USO, she set program, conference, and national records.
The three-time NAIA National Pitcher of the Year, Cerny owns NAIA records in nine statistical categories. She is the national all-time leader in wins (144), shutouts (68), appearances (186), no-hitters (16), and strikeouts (1,414), among other categories.
In addition to her Pitcher of the Year awards and statistical success, Cerny was a four-time All-American and was the Most Valuable Player of the 2018 NAIA Softball World Series after leading USAO to the national championship.
