Oklahoma Opens Love’s Field to Standing Room Only Crowds

Fans of the University of Oklahoma football team have long called the home of the Sooners – Gaylord Family Memorial Stadium – the palace on the prairie.

There is another palace on the prairie in Norman, Okla., and its the home of the Sooners softball team – Love’s Field.

The three-time defending national champion Sooners opened their new home on March 1, 2024 when OU hosted Miami (Ohio). Nicole May threw the first pitch in the history of Love’s Field and in typical Sooner fashion, Kinzie Hansen belted a walk-off home run in the eighth inning giving OU a 9-7 victory sending the 4,450 in attendance home happy.

A project that began on October 2021 when Love’s Travel Stops provided the lead and naming gift for the stadium project, culminated with the opening of one the top softball facilities in the country.
