Athletes Unlimited, which announced its pro softball league in March, has added three more players with strong college and pro backgrounds.

JANIE REED | NO. 39
Position: Outfield
College: Oregon
Currently: Team USA
Comment: “It wasn’t really ever a dream of mine because I never thought that I would be at the level of my heroes.”
Background: Reed (née Takeda) was a two-time NFCA All-American at Oregon. She has been with Team USA since 2015 and is a two-time World Championship gold medalist and a two-time Pan American Championship gold medalist.

TAYLOR EDWARDSÂ | NO. 31
Position: Catcher
College: Nebraska
Currently: Team USA
Comment: “It’s a very humbling feeling and I’m so honored to represent the USA. I’ve been dreaming of this since I was a kid.”
Background: Edwards was the No. 8 overall pick in the 2014 NPF Draft and won three straight NPF championships – two with the Chicago Bandits in 2015 and 2016 and one with the ScrapYard Dawgs in 2017. At Nebraska, she was a four-year starting catcher and the only All-American catcher in program history.

JESSICA BURROUGHS | NO. 33
Position: Pitcher
College: Florida State
Currently: USSSA Pride
Comment: “Very excited to be a part of Athletes Unlimited.”
Background: Burroughs was drafted first overall in the 2016 NPF Draft. She’s helped the Pride to three NPF regular season titles and was a perfect 9-0 with an ERA of .35 in 2018. At FSU, she was a 2017 First Team All-American and the 2016 ACC Pitcher of the Year.
