Transfer Tracker: Purdue’s Rachel Becker Enters the Portal; Will Play 2022 Season

Purdue standout Rachel Becker has entered her name into the NCAA’s transfer portal, sources confirmed to Extra Inning Softball‘s Justin McLeod this week.

Becker’s name appeared in the portal on January 26th and includes a graduate transfer designation, sources said. She is in her fourth year at Purdue, but is entering only her third season of eligibility on the field in 2022.

Following Becker’s entrance into the portal, Extra Inning Softball confirmed that the standout infielder will play the 2022 season at Purdue and will transfer to a new school after the year. She will have one season of eligibility remaining at her eventual new home. By entering the portal while still playing at her current school, Becker follows a recent trend of players getting a head start on weighing their graduate transfer options before completing their undergraduate careers.

Earlier in January, Becker was ranked #45 in the Extra Elite 100 College Player Rankings, the only Boilermaker and one of eight Big Ten players on the list. During the 2021 season, she batted .479 and set a new Purdue program record for highest single-season batting average. She collected 68 hits, 40 runs scored, and 18 doubles on the year.

A fixture in the Purdue infield since her freshman year in 2019, Becker batted .354 during her rookie year and scored 48 runs that season. During the shortened 2020 season, she scored 18 runs in 25 games and posted five doubles and a triple.
