Recruiting News: Our Latest “I Committed” Story… Kylei Griffin Talks About Becoming a Ragin’ Cajun!

After initially committed in the 8th grade, Kylei reopened her recruiting process and found the school where she’ll play starting in the Fall of 2022.

As we continue in the publishing of our All-Summer Teams, we remember the outstanding performance last year of Kylei Griffin, the current senior who back then was hobbled by a broken ankle and still hit seven home runs to make the 2020 All-Summer Team.

A 2022 Extra Elite 100 honoree, Kylei once was headed to the Big Ten but reopened her recruiting process and talks about how that played out in this version of the “I Committed” series (see below).

We also profiled her earlier this year when a big snowstorm in her home state of Texas forced her family to stay in a hotel for a bit! Click HERE to read that “Riding the Storm Outarticle!

Note to all committed athletes: if you would like to share your story, please complete our “I Committed” page like Kylei did!

Tell Us Your Story:

After verbally committing to Nebraska in the 8th grade, my recruitment was reopened in Nov. 2020.

Kyleigh Griffin

At this time, I began to communicate with numerous coaches from the SEC, Big 12, Big 10, ACC and other Division 1 schools.

After colleges were able to come out and watch us play again, I started receiving offers from these schools, but I wanted to wait until the end of the summer 2021 season to make a decision on where to continue my academic and softball career.

Finally, after finishing the summer on a high note offensively and talking to numerous coaches, my family and I decided that it was time to make a decision, and I chose the Ragin Cajuns.

It really became full circle for me because the Ragin Cajuns was the first school I ever visited before committing to Nebraska my 8th grade year.

So, for me, this is where my journey started and where it ended, and I so excited to be a Ragin Cajun!
