Extra Inning Softball continues to expand its national media footprint with the addition of Sara Vanderford, who officially joins the organization as a Digital Content Creator. A former NCAA Division I and professional softball player, Vanderford brings elite on-field experience, broadcast-level storytelling, and operational leadership to the Extra Inning Softball media team at a pivotal time of growth.
Her hiring reflects Extra Inning Softball’s ongoing commitment to authentic athlete voices, high-level softball IQ, and content that resonates with players, parents, and coaches across the country.

A Softball Voice That Matters
Vanderford’s background in fastpitch softball is not theoretical—it is lived. As a former NCAA Division I student-athlete at Texas State University and a professional softball player with the Texas Monarchs, she understands the modern athlete journey from the inside out. That perspective allows her to create content that is informed, credible, and deeply connected to the realities of today’s softball landscape.
At Extra Inning Softball that authenticity matters. Vanderford’s ability to translate competitive experience into compelling digital storytelling will directly support the platform’s mission to elevate the sport and the athletes who play it.

Broadcast Experience at the National Level
In addition to her playing career, Vanderford currently serves as a softball color commentator for ESPN+, where she provides in-depth game analysis and live storytelling for NCAA broadcasts. Her work alongside producers and on-air teams has sharpened her ability to communicate clearly, think quickly, and connect audiences to the nuances of the game.
That broadcast experience will play a key role in her content creation at Extra Inning Softball, particularly as the organization continues to expand video coverage, athlete features, and real-time storytelling around major events and moments.

Operational Leadership Behind the Scenes
Vanderford also brings a strong operational foundation to her role. She currently works within the Texas State University Athletics Department as a Business Operations & Travel Coordinator, where she manages team travel logistics, reconciles expenses, and supports internal communication across multiple NCAA programs.
Her ability to balance logistics, organization, and communication translates seamlessly into digital media operations—an essential skill set as Extra Inning Softball scales content production, deadlines, and collaborative workflows.
Academic Excellence Meets Industry Experience
A graduate of Texas State University, Vanderford earned both a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management and a Master of Business Administration (MBA). That academic background strengthens her strategic approach to content, branding, and digital engagement.
She combines business acumen with creative execution—an increasingly valuable blend in today’s evolving sports media environment.

Why This Hire Matters
Extra Inning Softball does not hire content creators simply to fill space. The organization prioritizes individuals who understand the culture of the sport, the responsibility of media influence, and the power of storytelling done the right way.
Sara Vanderford checks every box.
She has competed at the highest levels, spoken on national broadcasts, worked inside athletic departments, and engaged communities through digital media. Her voice adds credibility, depth, and momentum to Extra Inning Softball’s expanding editorial and digital strategy.

Looking Ahead
In her role as Digital Content Creator, Vanderford will contribute to athlete features, editorial storytelling, social media content, and platform-wide initiatives designed to inform, inspire, and connect the softball community nationwide.
As Extra Inning Softball continues to grow its reach and impact, the addition of Sara Vanderford signals another step forward—one rooted in experience, excellence, and a genuine passion for the game.
