There’s something to be said for staying close to home when going to college, especially if that’s where your heart is.
Peyton Gale, the 1st Team All-State senior out of Fredrick (Colorado) High, will only have to commute about 30 miles north next year when she officially becomes a member of the Northern Colorado Bears softball team.

The star infielder, ranked in the 2021 Extra Elite 100 released in October, 2020, was not only a two-time All-State honoree for her play on the field, she also matched that in the classroom by twice receiving All-Academic All-State recognition.
“Peyton is arguably one of the best softball players in Colorado in the 2021 class,” Northern Colorado Head Coach Ben Garcia said when officially inked last month as one of five in the 2021 class.
“She is a highly-decorated high school softball player, recently garnering all-state first team accolades and no doubt will be an immediate impact her freshmen year. She can hit for power and average; defensively she will lock down any position in the infield. We can’t wait to see her perform next year.”
We had a chance to catch up with Peyton in mid-November as she guested for the New Mexico Suncats club team at the Heartland of American Fastpitch League (HFL) Championship.
