Tell us about your travel team/organization and how you became involved with them? IG2K9 National was a team that my local travel ball team in Louisiana played several times. It was just “something” about the coaches and girls that seemed unbreakable and I wanted to be a part of it! When my season ended with my old team, my parents reached out for a tryout. The rest is history! It’s been great being truly accepted and a part of the team. We all fit so well together no matter the distance.
What do you bring to the team? I feel like I bring power with my batting; quickness on defense; and a big smile in the dugout!
What areas were you focusing on/trying to improve this summer? I always work on my batting to make sure I am helping my team bring in runs. I also am working on drills to be able to play defense wherever the coaches put me.
Can you tell us about your experience at this past Alliance Nationals? It was so amazing being able to play in the same arena as the Women’s College World Series. It was even better being a part of a winning team! I felt like we worked so hard to get to this very moment!
Which player/team was your toughest opponent and why? Iowa Premier, because they won against us earlier in the tournament and were watching us, waiting. They had so much to prove so they fought back hard.
What are your goals for the future? My goals are to play softball in college. I would love to play on any stage and maybe coach younger girls to give them this amazing feeling of the game. I also want to be an Orthodontist when I grow up.
Who is your sports hero and why? Shemiah Sanchez. She was such a natural at softball from when she was young. She was sick during her college time and not everyone even knew it. Everyone loved her smile and her love for the game was huge! She always dreamed big and she was so kind and down to earth meeting her in person years ago.
What’s the best hype song and why? The best hype song is “Fish Scale” (by YoungBoy) because it was like our bonding song. Everyone even learned the dance to it and we did it before every game.
Do you have a secret talent/skill? Everyone says I have a “goofy, contiguous laugh” … I’m a great listener and everyone seems drawn to me. I just know how to make people smile.
