EXTRA INNING SCOUTING REPORT
With the 2020 high school softball season approaching, TLI will be taking a look at some of the top teams in the country with the Extra Inning Scouting Report.
TLI went to the Trinity League media day at Mater Dei High of Santa Ana, CA, on Tuesday to talk to all of the league’s coaches and star players.
Today TLI will take a look at Mater Dei, which is led by head coach Sean Brashear, whose Firecrackers-Brashear clubs won PGF 14U Platinum national titles in 2017 and PGF 16U Platinum national titles in 2016. This is Brashear’s first year with the Monarchs.

What will it take for your team to be successful this season? For our team to be successful this season we will need to be efficient offensively and clean defensively to support our pitching staff which has a chance to be special this year.
Who is your No. 1 pitcher and what can you tell me about her skills? Who else could see some time in the circle? Pitching for us is a strength and with Jolie Gustavo (Syracuse commit), Riley Orcutt (Georgia commit) and Morgan McConnell (North Dakota commit) we have some quality arms who will all be important for us to be successful.
What can we expect from your offense? Offensively, we will be an aggressive-minded team and will look for some big things out of Marlene Friedman (Arkansas commit) Natalie Marshall (Kansas commit) and Atlantis Perez (Akron commit).
Did you pick up any impact transfers or did you lose any players to transfers? No transfers in or out.
Signed and Committed Players: Marlene Friedman, Arkansas; Hannah Jacobson, Cal State Monterey Bay; Alison O’Heany, Harvard; Riley Orcutt, Georgia; and Atlantis Perez, Akron.
