GOING BACK TO KALI
Lakewood Ranch High, FL, is the top-ranked team in the Extra Elite Eighty Preseason High School Rankings and Florida-commited 2020 MIF Kali Reis is a major reason.
“Kali will be one of the keys to our success this year,” Lakewood Ranch TJ Goelz said. “She is an excellent hitter with power to all fields, can run very well and will play a strong SS for us. She knows our system extremely well and believes in it. She came off her best travel ball summer in 18U Premier helping to lead her team to the final four at PGF. She will be key to getting this team back to the State championship game and winning it.”
Let’s take a look at Kali …

Tell us about your high school team and what we should expect from your team this season? Lakewood Ranch Softball is filled with not only talented players in every grade level, but good people that you would want to associate yourself around. The players and coaches all have the drive and goal to get better and have a winning mentality. This season my team is hungry and eager to attack every opponent like it could be our last. We want to finish our season just like we started it.
What have you learned about yourself in the past year? In the past year I’ve had a few more bumps in the road personally and have learned that softball is the outing for me. No matter what is going on I still have softball on my side and it’s not going anywhere. I love to be surrounded by teammates and the atmosphere of the game.
What is something you have faced in your life that has helped you become the person that you are today? I transferred high schools after my sophomore year. I lived in the district for Lakewood Ranch, but was attending a different high school. I switched schools because I thought I’d have better opportunities academically and athletically. This change impacted my personality by helping me become more outgoing with better leadership qualities.
What’s something that people would be surprised to learn about you? I consider myself a left-handed hitter. However, what many people don’t know is that I can actually switch hit and I was first a right-handed hitter until I was about 12. I even hit my first home run right handed.
Tell us about the reason you chose your college? I chose the University of Florida because I felt it offers me the best opportunity. One of my dreams is to be associated in the medical field and UF provides one of the best medical programs. I also was drawn towards the softball program due to their success and coaching style. On top of all that, the school is not very far from my home as it is only about a 3 hour car ride.
