EXTRA SPOTLIGHT
Jaycie Goad was ranked #23 in the 2025 Extra Elite 100, but she has been reclassified to 2026 because of Covid, so she will redo the 8th grade, and now she’s back and will try to help Ohio Outlaws National 07-Shaulis during major events this summer.

Honors: 2018 USSSA All American Direct Select (2018); 2020 USA All-American (2020); selected USA HPP program and Select 30 (2021); All-Area Team; and Honorable Mention All-State.
Travel Ball Highlights/Fall Stats: Went 23-4-1 in the fall; went 5-1 at Scenic City; won the DeMarini Fall Brawl for the third year in a row; wnt undefeated at the America’s Fall Showcase; and finished runner-up at the Indy PGF Super Select.
High School Highlights: Tied a single-season school record for home runs record in my in her first year of varsity. Led the team in hits, RBIs and at bats; and tied for team-high for doubles for the season
Can you talk about Covid and what you did to come back from it?
Having Covid was an eye-opening experience. My mom, sister, myself, and my dad all had Covid at the same time. I actually had a mild case, but my dad spent 5 days in the hospital and it took him about 6 weeks to fully recover. My dad does most of my defensive training with me, so during this time I took vitamins, rested and worked out from home.
How did you and your parents decide to deal with it?
My school system in the state of Kentucky was shut down for almost a year, so our state proposed a supplemental bill allowing students to repeat the school year and it not affect the sports eligibility. My family and I made the decision it would be best due to my age (being younger for my class), all of us recovering from Covid, and not being able to attend in person school for so long, that it would be best for me to reclassify. I can say I was a little uneasy about it at first, but now I’m very thankful that I did!
Tell us about your travel team/organization and how you became involved with them?
The first time I saw Coach Casey Shaulis’s Ohio Outlaw team I was very impressed. I loved his intensity. the toughness his team played with matched my style of play perfectly. My dad made the phone call to him, which led him to coming to watch me play. Coach Shaulis offered me a roster spot and I accepted almost immediately. This is my third year in the Ohio Outlaw organization.
What is your daily routine for training?
I train 6 days a week on most weeks. I train with Adam Lalonde 2-3 times a week hitting and one day fielding. The other days my dad trains me and we do tee work, front toss and a ton off glovework and footwork. I do weights 2-3 times a week and speed and agility 3-4 times a week.
What training methods have you added this summer?
We have added a lot of strength, speed and agility training over the past few months. I can definitely see the results as my home-to-first time is under 3 seconds now.
What should we expect from your club team this summer?
I think one thing you can expect from Casey Shaulis’ team is that we compete. We think we’re going to win every time we step on the field. We will compete on every pitch.
Do you have a secret talent/skill?
Annoying my sister!
What’s your most memorable softball story?
Tying my school record for home runs in a single season.
